Phase 3: Personalisation

Your long-term, flexible diet, built from what you learned. Eat broadly, restrict only what genuinely triggers you, and re-test from time to time.

What this phase is for

Personalisation is your long-term diet. You eat all the FODMAP groups you tolerate, at the doses you tolerate, and only restrict the foods that genuinely trigger you.

This is the goal of the entire protocol: a flexible, varied, sustainable diet that fits your gut, not a permanent restriction. Most people land somewhere in the middle, avoiding a few specific foods and enjoying everything else freely.

How long it takes

This phase is for life, but it is not static. Your diet stays broad most of the time, and you make small adjustments when symptoms shift. A short re-elimination + re-reintroduction can help you recalibrate after a major change like illness, antibiotics, pregnancy, or a long stressful period.
