What Phase is for

The low-FODMAP diet, without the guesswork.

Stop guessing

Know what's safe in seconds.

Scan a barcode or snap a photo of any meal. Phase returns a low, moderate, or high FODMAP rating per ingredient — and flags the hidden ones.

Find your triggers

Personal, not generic.

Phase correlates your meals with your symptoms over time and learns what your gut actually reacts to. No more cookie-cutter trigger lists.

Reintroduce with confidence

A protocol, not just a tracker.

Guided week-by-week reintroduction tests each FODMAP group at escalating doses, so you learn exactly how much you can tolerate.

For two years I cut every food on every list and still felt sick. Phase showed me it isn't all FODMAPs — just fructans, in amounts I can actually live with.

The Phase method

Three phases. One outcome: a diet that fits your gut.

Phase mirrors the clinical low-FODMAP protocol developed at Monash University. Most apps stop at elimination — Phase walks you all the way to a long-term answer.

  1. 012–6 weeks

    Eliminate

Cut high-FODMAP foods to establish a symptom baseline. Phase guides daily meals and flags hidden FODMAPs in everything you scan.

  2. 026–8 weeks

    Reintroduce

Test one FODMAP group at a time — fructose, lactose, fructans, GOS, polyols — at escalating doses with structured symptom check-ins.

  3. 03Ongoing

    Personalize

Phase builds your tolerance map: how much of each FODMAP group you can eat without triggering symptoms. Eat freely, within your limits.

Real foods, real data

Why Phase

Built for the diet, not just for tracking.

  • Grounded in the research

FODMAP ratings drawn from peer-reviewed studies and our own composition analysis — not internet folklore.

  • AI scanning

Barcodes, meal photos, and full restaurant menus — all analysed in seconds.

  • A real protocol

A guided 3-phase program built into the app. Not just another food log.

  • Personal tolerance map

The whole point of the FODMAP diet is reintroduction. Phase gets you there.

Frequently asked

Honest answers, no jargon.

What is Phase?
Phase is the low-FODMAP app for people with IBS. It lets you scan any food, log meals, follow the clinical low-FODMAP protocol developed at Monash University, and discover your personal trigger threshold.
What are FODMAPs?
FODMAPs are short-chain carbohydrates — fermentable oligosaccharides, disaccharides, monosaccharides, and polyols — that are poorly absorbed in the small intestine. In sensitive guts they ferment in the colon and trigger IBS symptoms like bloating, pain, and altered bowel habits. The five groups are fructose, lactose, fructans, GOS, and polyols.
How do I know if a food is low FODMAP?
Scan its barcode or photograph the meal in Phase. The app returns a low, moderate, or high FODMAP rating per ingredient and flags hidden FODMAPs like inulin, garlic powder, and high-fructose corn syrup.
What are the 3 phases of the low-FODMAP diet?
Phase 1 (Elimination) removes high-FODMAP foods to establish a symptom baseline. Phase 2 (Reintroduction) tests one FODMAP group at a time at escalating doses. Phase 3 (Personalization) uses your results to build a long-term diet that fits your personal tolerance.
How long does the low-FODMAP diet take?
Most people complete the full protocol in about 3 to 6 months: 2 to 6 weeks of elimination, 6 to 8 weeks of reintroduction, then ongoing personalization. Phase paces you through each step and adapts the timeline to your symptom progress.
Will Phase replace my doctor or dietitian?
No. Phase is a tool to support your care, not a substitute for it. The low-FODMAP protocol is most effective when run with a doctor or registered dietitian, especially for the elimination phase. Phase makes the day-to-day execution easier and gives your clinician a clear record to work from.
How accurate is the AI food scanner?
Phase identifies ingredients from a barcode, photo, or menu and matches them against a 1,000+ food FODMAP catalog. Coverage is shown on every result so you can see how confident the rating is. When an ingredient can't be matched, Phase tells you rather than guessing.
Is Phase free?
Phase is free during the iPhone beta. We'll publish pricing before the public launch.
Is the low-FODMAP protocol backed by science?
Yes. The low-FODMAP elimination-and-reintroduction protocol was developed by researchers at Monash University and is supported by peer-reviewed clinical evidence as a first-line approach for IBS management.
Is my health data private?
Your meals and symptom logs are scoped to your account and protected by row-level security on the database. We never sell health data. You can export or delete everything from inside the app.
